Football Manager (1982) - by Kevin Toms
The grandfather of them all.
Kevin Toms' Football Manager for the ZX Spectrum. This game was addictive. It was the first proper attempt at producing a management sim, and although very basic compared to games that came later, it had all the elements in there that made you feel like a manager; a transfer market, squad selection, injuries, and club finances that if fell too far into the red would see you sacked. The spectrum version had 4 divisions and the FA Cup to play for.
The graphics were just little stickmen trying to kick a full stop into an over-sized goal, but it was fun and exciting to watch (at the time).
