Player Manager - by Dino Dini
Player Manager (1990) was basically just Kick Off but with added management options and a league and cup campaign. You added yourself to the game when starting a new save - you were a 28 year old pro coming to the end of his career but given the opportunity to play for & manage your team.
The management side was pretty basic though, no where near as in-depth as it should have been. Nevertheless it was a fun game to play, as was its follow up Player Manager 2. PM2 moved away from the classic top down pitch view seen in previous Kick Off games, and more toward a side 3D view (see screenshot). Graphically it looked better but the match engine was poor and a step back from the classic Kick Off & Player Manager 1 engines.
